John Banks visits Jucy Hotel
12 August 2010 05:21 AM
Auckland Mayor John Banks came to inspect the JUCY Hotel Wednesday August 11 ahead of the official party launch tonight. Banksie told Tim Alpe, CEO that he was very impressed at the noise that the Alpe boy were creating with their business.
Banksie commented on what a great photo JUCY LUCY took as he inspected the rooms and read some of her sayings! Banskie also said that when he travels on business he often ends up in flash places but the reality was that this was just the kind of room you needed – somewhere to put your bags and a place to go to sleep. Banksie was impressed!

Jucy & The Verge
28 July 2010 07:58 AM
Jucy is excited to partner up with the producers of Australia’s first online serial drama, The Verge.
The Verge is an interactive web TV series following the lives of a household of zany characters living in Brisbane’s inner suburbs. The show’s producer, Adam Ben Lomsargis described the drama as being “about a house of 20-somethings, living, working, playing, partying and loving every minute of it.” Lomsargis believes the show will quickly become a hit with a web savvy demographic and beyond and Jucy does too.
Bright green and purple Jucy campervans have been out in force promoting the new show. The first episode of The Verge will air on 30 July at http://www.videozoo.tv/theverge/ alongside other hit TV series The Comedy Company and Let The Blood Run Free.

Splendour in the Grass – some JUCY Tips
27 July 2010 06:47 AM

Splendour in The Grass is set to be an all out Jucy fest with over 60 campervans booked for the event. Here are some Jucy tips for the party-heads making their way up to the festival this weekend (‘cos we love ya):
Take only cheap rags and leave your nice clothes at home. If you’re feeling frisky leave all your clothes at home.
Lock your camper and take anything valuable with you.
Use protection. Enough said.
Hugs not drugs, kids.
Drinking and driving. There are stupider things but it’s a very short list.
Load up that Jucy fridge with bevvies and yummy food for midnight munchies!
Stay with your friends and look out for them too.
Apply your handbrake. Last thing you want is your Jucy camper mowing down hundreds of concert goers.
Hair doesn’t matter. Ladies, your hair is gonna look like a pteradactyl’s nest after an hour anway.
Look after your Jucy wheels. She has feelings too. And jealous people may want to hurt her.
Slip on a t-shirt, slop on some suncreen and slap on a hat. Sunburn isn’t “in” at the moment.
Enjoy the music and say hi to Goldfrapp for us, we go way back.
Love

Jucy supports school fundraiser
23 July 2010 07:56 PM
Jucy Rentals has always been keen to support schools, community groups and sponsorship of events. The most recent donation, a 10 Campervan hire, to Yaldhurst School was well received and will be raffled off at a Golf Tournament the schools P.T.A is holding as one of the schools major fundraisers this year.
Hi Kim
That is absolutely amazing! I am blown away by Mr Alpes generousity! It is because of wonderful people like him that makes fundraising possible. Unfortunetly schools still have to fundraise for resources.
Could you please pass on a big thank you to him and we will also send a letter to him personally.
We would probably use this prize as first prize in the raffle if that is alright. We call it the Golf Tournament raffle and sell tickets leading up to the tournament.
Once again thank you very much and you have made my day!
Kind Regards
Annell McDonagh
As you can see by the above email from Annell the school was very greatful of the donation. We enjoy helping people out where we can and we get that “feel good” fuzz feeling about it!

Driving “El Cheapo” means you can stay at the Hilton
14 July 2010 07:37 PM
Accomodation can be an expensive part of your holiday – especially if you want to stay at places such as the Hilton! If this is the case do not despare – you can save money in other ways. Like renting an El Cheapo car from Jucy Rentals. Reliable, fun & cheap leaving you with extra cash to play with!
One of Jucy’s customers Nigel Davy sent us an email at the end of their holiday which read “We stayed the first night of our holiday at the Hilton Auckland. Valet parking were not happy to leave the car in the park in front of the hotel with the flash cars and quickly whisked it away to a hidden park away from the beamers etc It was bought out again when we checked out and they kindly parked it in front of the Hilton sign for this shot”.

Thanks for this Nigel for your email & great picture, we love it!! Driving “El Cheapo” means you can stay at the Hilton!

Easy meals to make on the road
12 July 2010 08:52 PM

Just because you are travelling in a campervan, backpacking around and on a budget doesn’t mean that you can enjoy good food that is healthy (well most of it) and easy to make!
We know that it is sometimes hard of things to cook even when you are at home, let alone about to set off in a campervan so we asked our Jucy Rentals fan’s and travellers to share with us meals which they love and found easy to make on the road. So here are their suggestions. Some yummy sounding meals that are quick & easy for you to make in a campa. (Between you and me some of these are so great I think I will start to make them at home as well!)
- Noodles, fresh veg & sweet chilli sauce.. mmmmm
- Take a wok & do lots of stir fries…eggs too, in the wok with soy sauce
- In the heat you soon find fresh doesn’t last long so boil some pasta, drain & then add sauce from a jar or tomatoes and chopped up hotdog sausages, all in one pan easy peasy!
- 2 minute noodles all the way! If you stop off in Taupo you can go to the prawn farm and go fishing & add them into the noodles!! Chili con carne
- Gnocchi which cooks in 3 mins, add a tin of mexican beans, tin of tuna and some sweet chilli sauce! Amazing food, and takes about 5 mins to cook!
- Fresh veggies sauteed (use celery instead of onion for less smell and easy dicing!), tin of flavoured diced tomatoes, and white beans. Eat with fresh bread rather than pasta and you have a one pot meal that is great!
- Last time we had a Jucy we made full on Mini Thai Chicken Burgers! recipe here : http://bit.ly/dwWjeI
- Macaroni Cheese! Cheap, Cheesy and nice!
- Sausage sizzle! Sausages fried on white bread with tomato sauce, YUMMY!
- Spagetti Bolognaise
- Pesto Pasta Salad. Get some pene pasta, add in some diced tomatos, diced salami and stir round some pesto. Perfect meal for those warm nights & you can eat hot or cold.
- Couscous with chorizo, spinach, feta and spring onions and corriander. only takes 2 minutes and tastes lovel
- Burritos! Cook chicken or mince in a pan and once done put into a flour tortilla and add lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and any other of your favorite vegies!
- I went too Bathurst last October and on the way up and back we had a portable oven. It uses cigarette lighter & man it made the trip easier. Just put food in portable oven and when your food is done just simply pull over too eat its small but works well & fits 2 Aussie pies comfortably
By now I bet your mouth is watering and hopefully you are writting these ideas down so that you can re-make these meals and enjoy them each night with a different backdrop of scenery as you travel around!

Winner of Jucy Snow Holiday Adventure Competition
02 July 2010 06:20 PM

Our winner, Mark Johnson of North Shore Auckland was hoping to take a trip down south this year for his seventh wedding anniversary but as life would have it, plans didn’t quiet go that way.
The National Service Technician, who has never won a competition before has only ever travelled the South Island for work rather than pleasure, but after entering the Jucy Snow Holiday adventure his dreams of enjoying the majestic sights of the beautiful South Island have come true.
An avid snowboarder, Mark travels with his family of four to Turoa during the winter months to get his powder fix and is looking forward to experiencing Treble Cone for the first time.
“I’m looking forward to the big open spaces of Treble cone and also full mountain access. This is the first time we will have a passes that will get us all over the mountain”, say’s Mr Johnson.
This will also be the very first time Mr Johnson and his wife will travel together in a campavan, but it is something that the couple have always wanted to do.
The secret thrill seekers last holiday was in September 09 and heard about the Jucy Snow Holiday competition while sampling NZ Natural Ice Cream at the Jucy Ski For Free sampling day outside R&R sport.
“A lovely lady down at R&R told me about the holiday. My wife put the flyers into recycling three times and I took them out again three times so I could enter the competition”.
When asked how Mark felt about winning the competition, Mr Johnson replied, “Bewildered. Shocked. I was on my way to see a client when Jucy called to say I had won. I had to wait in the car until I stopped shaking “!
Mr Johnson is now set to enjoy a jam packed holiday full of excitement and adventure and promises to send us photos so we can see the fun the couple have on this amazing holiday.
The Jucy Snow Adventure holiday includes Sky Diving with Skydive Wanaka, Bungy Jumps with AJ Hackett, Jet Boating with Goldfields Jet, seven day campa hire with Jucy Rentals, Ski Passes for Treble Cone Skifield for 7 days and flights to get the adventure underway.
